Here's a potentially fun app from NPR.  I haven't played with it yet, but listened to the piece this morning.  Click here for the link.

So sorry I will have to miss our December discussion.  I love The Goldfinch.

A book (or two) for every state

Saw this interesting book list this morning from NPR. We've read a number of them, but might want to add some that we haven't, particularly the one for New Mexico. http://www.bkmag.com/2014/10/15/the-literary-united-states-a-map-of-the-best-book-for-every-state/

More on art forgery

I know it's been a few months since we read Shapiro's The Art Forger, but heard this on NPR this morning and thought it might be of interest.

The Sense of a Discussion

I really liked this book, especially the themes of memory and youth and history. But, like Tony, I felt like there were some parts I just was not getting.

Sound familiar? See this website's discussion on The Sense of an Ending -- it is a bit of a random walk through the book, but I found many interesting interpretations.

One star reviews

These made me laugh.  Really hard.

And some of them I absolutely agreed with.

The Art Forger: Real life examples

Here are some interesting websites I've come across as I've been reading The Art Forger.

Reproductions for sale are apparently a thing.

People do find "lost" art.  Or they think they do.

And forgeries are pretty common, it would seem.

Glad I'm too poor to be hoodwinked.
